<Step 06: Create and configure Arrow database | Step 08: Enable AJAX extensions>

Remember to ALWAYS backup your web.config file before modifying.

DevExpress is periodically updated. This article references the latest version, 10.2.4.0. If you are using an older version of Arrow, you may have a different version of DevExpress assemblies installed. You can check the version number in you Global Assembly Cache by browsing %SystemDrive%\Windows\Assembly.

  1. If you did not set the connection string for the Arrow database earlier, do so before continuing.

  2. Locate the <httpHandlers> section.  This section is in the <system.web> section, which is located in the <configuration> section.

  3. Add the following <httpHandlers> entry for DevExpress controls. This enables user interface controls used throughout Arrow.

    <add type="DevExpress.Web.ASPxClasses.ASPxHttpHandlerModule, DevExpress.Web.v10.2, Version=10.2.4.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b88d1754d700e49a" verb="GET" path="DX.ashx" validate="false" />

    You <httpHandlers> section will look similar to the image below. You can view an example of a complete web.config file here: web.config sample.

  4. Locate the <httpModules> section.  This section is usually below the <httpHandlers> section.  It is located in the <system.web> section, which is located in the <configuration> section.

  5. Add the following <httpModules> entry for DevExpress controls. This enables user interface controls used throughout Arrow.

     <add type="DevExpress.Web.ASPxClasses.ASPxHttpHandlerModule, DevExpress.Web.v10.2, Version=10.2.4.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b88d1754d700e49a" name="ASPxHttpHandlerModule" />

    Your <httpModules> section will look similar to the image below. You can view an example of a complete web.config file here: web.config sample.

  6. Arrow 2010 Users Only - If you are installing Arrow for SharePoint 2010, you will also need to add entries to the <system.webServer> section.

    <system.webServer>
      <handlers>
        <add name="ASPxHttpHandlerModule" type="DevExpress.Web.ASPxClasses.ASPxHttpHandlerModule, DevExpress.Web.v10.2, Version=10.2.4.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b88d1754d700e49a" verb="GET" path="DX.ashx" />
      </handlers>
      <modules>
        <add type="DevExpress.Web.ASPxClasses.ASPxHttpHandlerModule, DevExpress.Web.v10.2, Version=10.2.4.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b88d1754d700e49a" name="ASPxHttpHandlerModule"/>
      </modules>
    </system.webServer>
