Dashboards and Gauges

Overview

The Arrow allows you to display a report as a dashboard inside of a SharePoint site, allowing you to design your dashboard in Office and publish it to the web. 

Background

You will need an existing template or report defintion uploaded to your SharePoint site. Below, you will find two sections:Adding The Dashboard Webpart, and Adding a Dashboard Widgets and Controllers.

Adding The Dashboard Webpart

Edit the page and add the Windward Dashboard webpart.

 

Edit the webpart properties.

 

Select the template you wish to display. When the page refreshes, set any report variables.

 

Click OK at the bottom of the webpart properties panel.

 

 

Adding a Dashboard Widgets and Controllers

 

Edit the page and add the Windward Dashboard Controller and Widget webparts.

 

Edit the webpart properties for the Windward Dashboard Controller.

 

Enter connection string and query (select statement). The query select columns matching the report variables. For example, if the report variable is City, the query could be "SELECT City from Cities". The case has to match here.

 

Click OK at the bottom of the webpart properties panel.

 

Connect the Widget webpart to the Controller webpart. Multiple Widgets can connect to a Controller.

 

Edit the webpart properties for the Widget, select the template you wish to display, then click OK at the bottom of the webpart properties panel.

 

The webparts are now prepared for use. Select a value from the Controller webpart to update the Widget webpart.
